Is VPN Wave safe?
VPN Wave is a standard App Store app: it passed Apple's App Review, runs inside the iOS sandbox, and connects through the VPN system built into iOS and macOS. The one special permission it asks for is the one every VPN app needs, adding a VPN configuration to your device. Like any iOS app, it has no access to your photos, messages or other apps' data unless iOS asks you first.
What a VPN provider can see: while you are connected, your traffic passes through our servers. Websites and apps that use HTTPS, which is almost all of them today, stay encrypted end to end, so their content is not visible to us. Our privacy policy commits that we do not collect the websites you visit, the IP addresses assigned to you while connected, or any data you send through the VPN.
The company behind the app is identifiable. Wergames OÜ is registered in the EU, so EU data-protection law (GDPR) applies, including your right to ask for access to your data or its deletion at info@vpnwave.app.
What a VPN does not do: it does not make you anonymous to services you are signed in to, and it cannot protect a device that is already compromised. VPN Wave changes your network location, not your Apple ID country, payment method or account region.
What VPN Wave does and doesn't collect
From our privacy policy (last updated February 2026):
Not collected
- The websites and apps you visit
- The IP addresses assigned to you while you are connected
- Any data you send or receive through the VPN
Collected
- Basic app data: app version, install channel, language, time zone, network type (Wi-Fi or cellular) and session start and stop times
- A random user identifier that is not tied to your name or email
- Apple's advertising identifier (IDFA), only if you allow tracking when iOS asks
- For Premium: an email address and approximate IP location may be used to set up and verify Premium access
- Analytics through Firebase, AppsFlyer and Meta (Facebook), which the privacy policy names
Subscriptions, cancelling and refunds
Premium is sold only as an in-app subscription through Apple. The App Store shows the price and billing period before you confirm, Apple charges you, and we never see your card details. That also means Apple's tools are where you cancel or ask for a refund. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
- iPhone or iPad: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → VPN Wave → Cancel Subscription.
- Mac: App Store → your name at the bottom of the sidebar → Account Settings → Subscriptions → Manage → VPN Wave.
Refunds are decided by Apple: go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple ID, choose "Request a refund" and select the VPN Wave purchase. If the problem is with the app itself, email info@vpnwave.app.
Not the same as other "Wave" products
Several unrelated products use a similar name. None of them is made by Wergames OÜ or connected to VPN Wave:
- Wave Browser — a web browser from a different company. It is not a VPN Wave product and does not come with VPN Wave.
- Wave VPN on Google Play — an Android app from a different developer. VPN Wave does not publish an Android app.
- wavevpn.io — a separate VPN service with its own website and apps.
- Privacy Wave VPN, VPN ProxyWave and other "Wave" apps — different apps and browser extensions with similar names.
The only official sources for VPN Wave are this website (vpnwave.app) and the App Store listing sold by Wergames OU.
Questions about VPN Wave
Who makes VPN Wave?
VPN Wave is developed and published by Wergames OÜ, a private limited company registered in Estonia. The App Store lists Wergames OU as the seller, and the listing's developer website points back to vpnwave.app.
How long has VPN Wave been around?
The app has been on the App Store since 11 November 2020 and is still actively updated.
Is VPN Wave free?
Yes. The app is free to download and includes free servers you can connect to without paying or creating an account. Premium is optional, and the App Store shows its current price before you subscribe.
Does VPN Wave keep logs of what I do online?
No browsing logs. Our privacy policy says we do not collect the websites you visit, the IP addresses assigned to you while connected, or the data you send through the VPN. The app does collect basic analytics such as app version, language and session times; the full list is in the privacy policy.
Why is it called "VPN Wave Proxy & AdBlock Pro" on the App Store?
That is the title of the App Store listing, which describes what the app does. The product is VPN Wave, also searched as "Wave VPN", and it is the same app from the same publisher.
How do I cancel my VPN Wave subscription?
On iPhone or iPad: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → VPN Wave → Cancel Subscription. On Mac: App Store → your name → Account Settings → Subscriptions → Manage. Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription, because Apple handles all billing.
Is VPN Wave related to Wave Browser?
No. Wave Browser is a different product from a different company. VPN Wave is an App Store app for Apple devices only and does not come with a browser.
How do I contact the VPN Wave team?
Email info@vpnwave.app or use the contact page. If you are reporting a problem, include your device model and iOS version.
